Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): Ikishe Village Baptist Church, (Youth Ministry) in collaboration with Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-Being organised a seminar on ‘Mental health’ on March 4 with Dr Temsuyanger, Psychiatrist SMO, Dimapur Civil Hospital, as the resource person.
According to a press release, the seminar began with a prayer by Inahoto, Associate Youth Pastor, Ikishe Village, followed by introductions. The resource person, Dr Temsuyanger, highlighted on alcohol/drug/pornography/mobile dependency and said that the earlier term for these issues– addiction- was ‘stigmatised vocabulary, and it has now been changed ‘dependent.’ He also discussed about OST (Opioid Substitution Therapy) and its benefits and how the dependents can lead a healthy quality of life at the later stage.
Dr Temsuyanger also highlighted about how users become abusers and dependents of substances. Phone dependency is included in ICD 11 in the category of mental illness, he said while emphasising that people should know how to use it rather then becomes dependent. A brief discussion on ‘Demon possession’ and Psychosis was also held, the release stated.
The programme had 2 sessions, and ended with the prayer by Inahoto, Associate Youth Pastor, it added.
