DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 2 (MExN): A seminar on peace-building and organic farming was organized by Peace Channel in collaboration with Catholic Women Association of Holy Cross Parish at Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School campus recently. Barbara Radley, Educator from UK, Dr. CP Anto, Director Peace Channel, and Kishore Dass, PRO, DAN were the resource persons.
Speaking on recent new ideology of Conflict transformation, Radley said, “Basically, conflict transformation looks at the general changes of the social conflict traits and the patterns that this conflict follows.”
She stated four aspects of conflict transformation which are individual transformation, relationship transformation, power struggle and cultural issues. She said, “Conflict can escalate when there is gap in communication and when we have stereo-typical ideas about situations.” She explained that women have to be clever enough to see the conflict happening in their family and see where they are coming from, and try to see things from others point of view rather than our own point of view.
Kishore, speaking on the importance of Inner Peace and meditation said, “Inner Peace is the Peace that comes from within and which sustains.” Inner Peace, he said, can be very challenging, but at the same time, it is something which no one can take away from a person when one knows how to maintain it. He structured a practical meditation session where the participants were taken into a short retro of meditation. He also said that meditation has direct influence on one’s biological system and therefore, it can cure many illnesses and ailments if one practice meditation on a daily basis.
Dr. Anto speaking on conflict said that conflict is a good thing as long as it does not lead to violence. “No man is bad, no woman is bad, everyone is good. The only thing is we need to accept, love and understand each other,” he told the participants.
On another level, he also stressed on the importance of avoiding contaminated food flooding in the market, which is affecting one’s health and peace in the family through various diseases. He asserted on maintaining an organic peace garden at home.
A video clipping of how colours and medicines are added in plants was also screened. The programme was attended by over 80 women participants.
