Seminar on sensitization of girl child held in Wokha

Wokha, December 7 (MExN): One day seminar on sensitization of girl child on education and health issues was conducted at Dobashi Court (DBs) Sanis under Wokha district on December 4.  

According to a DIPR report, the Lotha Eloe Hoho and other department in collaboration of District Administration have been visiting all the ranges and Blocks under the district in spreading awareness about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme which was officially launched in the month of October under Wokha district.  

SDO (C) Sanis, R.Noudu while addressing the function during the seminar said to address issues and problems such kind of programmes are held which is an initiative of the Government of India to safeguard and support girl child.  

He stated that before there was no such programmers or activities to address for the welfare of the girl child or women but under Central Ministry a noble initiative has been started so that girl child can participate or have equal opportunity in getting education or in any other field, where he added for the success of any programme support and co-operation is need and called upon the village authorities and women organization in the area to extend helping hand so that this Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme will be a successful one in our district.  

President Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH), Zuchobeni Ezong, who also spoke during the function, emphasized on giving equal opportunity to both male and female child as they are equally important in the eye of the society. She also highlighted regarding the seminar which is scheduled to be held starting from November 25 till December 10 about Elimination of Violence against Women and called upon the participants to extend support for the success of the programme. Psychologist, NTCP, Abeni Kikon also addresses the gathering.  

Around 170 participants including adolescence girls, Anganwadi, ASHA workers and general public attested the seminar.  

During the seminar baby kits for the new born girl child were also given away by the SDO (C) Sanis, and sanitary kit/pack were also distributed to adolescence girls who participated during the function. Pledges were also read out by mothers of the new born baby girl child.  

The function was chaired by Vice President LEH. Renboni Jami while vote of thanks was proposed by President Sanis Range Eloe Hoho, Rensali.
