Seminar on Suposhan Diwas under Community Base Event conducted

Wokha, January 31 (MExN): Seminar on Suposhan Diwas under Community Base Event (CBE) in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao 2019 was held at Town Hall, Wokha on January 31, with Dr. Merebeni Odyuo, Sr. Dental Surgeon & DNO, NTCP, Dr. Khelitoli District Immunization Officer and Sr. Supervisor, Erenbeni, CDPO as the resource persons.


According to a DIPR report, Dr. Merebeni Odyuo, speaking on the topic, sensitization on the harmful use of tobacco, said one leading cause of death globally is associated with use of tobacco and appealed to discourage use of any kind of tobacco since tobacco products contain thousands of toxic substances causing hazard to human life.


Dr. Khelitoli, who shared on the topic, importance of immunization & institutional deliveries, said Institutional Deliveries will not only facilitate safe deliveries but will also identify neonates who needs special care and safe delivery process conducted in an institution will have a definite impact of reduction of maternal mortality. It also provides an opportunity to the health care system of the new born child and mother. She also added immunizing and administering vaccines on time can prevent and protects the child from many diseases and urged all parents to avail the facilities provided by the government and immunize the child on time.


Sr. Supervisor, Erenbeni, giving a brief overview on Suposhan Diwas under CBE, stated the objective is to create awareness and educate husbands about the relevance of maternal child nutrition’s, and to foster supportive responsibility among men in the family to ensure the practice of recommended maternal, infant and young child behaviors at home.


Short speech was also delivered by Jt. Secretary, Lotha Hoho Yihamo Patton. During the function Adolescent Girls Club Vongutchu Colony presented cultural dance. The function was chaired by EAC, Wokha Arhomo Yanthan while vote of thanks was proposed by Mhalo Odyuo.
