After a doctor was tested positive for COVID-19, the district hospital in Senapati district has been sealed from Saturday after the district administration declared the hospital premises as a containment zone.

The doctor was tested positive for COVID 19 on Friday and following the confirmation, contact tracing for both the primary and secondary contacts have been started by the Rapid Response Team of the district as a measure to check the spread of the disease. The contact tracing was necessitated as the doctor had attended his OPD and hospital duty on July 20 and July 21.

The district Health authority, in the meantime, instructed patients who attended the doctor in the OPD to report to the district surveillance officer for rapid antigen testing. All the secondary contacts were asked to undergo strict home quarantine, the source added.

The infected doctor was the fourth medical doctor who was tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.

On June 22, two doctors of Bishnupur district hospital tested COVID-19 positive. Again on July 9, a doctor from JNIMS hospital who was tested positive for COVID-19 became the third frontline warrior contacted by the virus. Another medical student at RIMS was also tested positive for the virus on July 17. Some nurses have also been infected by the virus while discharging COVID-19 related duties in the hospitals of the state.
