Dimapur, December 1 (MExN): The first-ever Senior National Arbiter Seminar and Exam, organized by the Nagaland Chess Association in collaboration with the All India Chess Federation, successfully concluded today at the Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. The event attracted 27 participants, including 17 from Nagaland, 8 from Assam, 1 from Jharkhand, and 1 from Meghalaya. Among the participants, 5 were female, with 4 from Nagaland and 1 from Jharkhand. The results of the seminar and exam will be announced in a week.
The seminar featured Nitin Shenvi, one of India’s senior most International Arbiters and a visiting Lecturer at Ferguson College, Pune, as the trainer. KM Warjri, Chairman of the Chess Development Committee for North East and Andaman and Nicobar Islands under the All India Chess Federation, was the Chief Guest. AK Verma, Head of Operations at the All India Chess Federation, served as the Guest of Honor.
During the seminar, both Warjri and Verma highlighted the lack of major chess activities in Nagaland, aside from local tournaments in the past. They expressed their satisfaction in seeing the new team of the Nagaland Chess Association organizing such events and emphasized their hope for more chess events to be held in the state in the near future. They assured full support to Nagaland in organizing future chess competitions.
The valedictory ceremony was led by Mohokiya Apon, Vice President of the NCA, with an invocation by Keyinglungbe Ilunglung, Associate Pastor of the Angami Baptist Church, Northern Angami Colony, Walford, Dimapur. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mengise Haikam, Joint Secretary of the NCA. Vekukho Soho, Honorary Secretary of the NCA, declared the seminar a grand success.
