Sensible citizen, need of the hour: Western Chakhesang Hoho

Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) has made an appeal to all citizens of Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung to “have a larger heart to consider the difficulties of neighbouring less developed districts, likewise other less developed districts should also come forward with accommodative spirit during this time of crisis.”

WCH, President, Dietho Rhakho stated this in a press release in response to the issues raised by Kohima Village Council, Agamimiepfü Metsü Krotho and Dimapur Civil Societies who have appealed the State Government to send returnees to their own home districts. The WCH said that their concerns “can be understood for the reasons of apprehensions or concern over increasing number of returning citizens and risk involved when returnees are being adjusted into overcrowded facility centres.”

“We are aware that Dimapur or Kohima alone will not be able to accommodate all the returnees. However, one must also consider, that, with better position, better infrastructure, manpower and medical facilities, easier access to power centres and financial sources, also comes greater responsibility,” it stated.

The WCH also stated that we have a reason to be concerned for insufficient quarantine centres or inadequate arrangements which can lead to endangering many lives or invite chaos. “Nevertheless, we believe Government knows best and will take necessary measures to protecting its citizens. The safety of its residing citizens or returning citizens should never be compromised,” it stated.

The Hoho added that “the need of the hour is for every citizen to be sensible.”

“Villages, Colonies, Tribal Organisations, Churches and NGOs will have to come forward in their own capacities to team up with the authorities if we are to get through this pandemic,” the WCH asserted.
