Seven of family gunned down in Kiphire

Dimapur, Feb 9 (MExN): In a shocking incident seven persons, all reported to be from a single family, were found gunned down in a place between Zangor village and Pungro village. Gunned down by as yet unidentified perpetrators, the bodies were found at around 4:30 this evening. The killing is believed to have taken place around late evening February 8. 

According to reports from Kiphire, the murdered persons included the Head GB of Zangor village, one retired government teacher and a PWD employee. It was reported as confirmed that all the seven demised, all above the age of 30 years, belongs to the same family. So far, no motive behind the shocking incident has been established nor has any underground faction, if any relation to such, claimed responsibility. 

Earlier, some persons had informed the administration that some dead bodies were lying about in a location between Zangor and Pungro villages. The administration led by the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Superintendent of Police and SDO (Pungro) along with Nagaland Armed Police personnel retrieved the bodies of the seven persons and brought them to Pungro village. They are still lying in the NAP camp at Pungro, sources informed. Details are awaited till filing of this news report. The situation in an around Pungro village is informed to be tense, but under control, sources said. 

Meanwhile, the district administration and the police are investigating into the killing. The police are still clueless with no concrete evidence surfacing to tell a tale behind the killing. However, there are speculations that the shocking killing could be related to the recent Shamator dispute.
