Imphal, February 27 (NNN): At least seven persons including two traffic police personnel were injured in a blast in Imphal on Sunday afternoon. Reports said miscreants hurled a grenade towards a shop from a moving car at Hatta area in New Checkon of Imphal at around 12: 40 pm. The grenade landed near a hardware shop. It is still not clear whether the miscreants were attacking the shop. A Maruti Gypsy carrying some traffic police personnel was passing behind the moving car used by the miscreants. In the explosion two traffic police personnel identified as Leihaothabam Iboyaima (40) of Khurai Chingjabam Leikai and Ningombam Angouton (45) of Nambol Phaijing Chingmang. Both the personnel got multiple injuries, according to a report.
After the blast, the injured have been rushed to hospitals. Till the filing of this story, no one has claimed responsility for the act.
