Under-17 Girls Champions: GHS Meriema.

SFS Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima and Government High School, Meriema emerged champions in the Under-15 Boys and Under-17 Girls categories respectively at the State-level Pre-Subroto Tournament 2025, which concluded Tuesday at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
With the win, both teams will represent Nagaland at the upcoming Subroto Cup 2025, to be held in Bengaluru and New Delhi.
Organised by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (YRS) in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), the two-day tournament witnessed participation from district-level qualifiers across the state.
In the Under-15 Boys final, SFS Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima defeated Christian School Molvom to claim the title. In the Under-17 Girls category, GHS Meriema secured a commanding win over GMS L. Khel Kohima in the final.

The champions in both categories were awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000 each, while the runners-up received Rs 20,000 each.
Gracing the closing ceremony as the special guest, Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung lauded the players for their discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
“This tournament has not only been a platform for competition but a celebration of talent, unity, and youthful energy,” he said, encouraging the young athletes to carry forward the momentum and continue their journey in football with dedication.
Yimkhiung also acknowledged the NFA for its grassroots development efforts and thanked coaches, referees, volunteers, and the organizing committee for their behind-the-scenes contributions.
General Secretary of NFA, MLA Benei M. Lamthiu also delivered a short address at the event.
The programme was chaired by Kethosituo Shekhose, Director of Youth Resources & Sports. Anthony Ngullie, Commissioner & Secretary, YRS, delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Youth Resources Officer, Naroenla.
