Shamator guns ordered to be tamed

DIMAPUR, JAN 3 (MExN): Amidst the serious law and order situation prevailing in and around Shamator area even to the extent of killing, Nagaland Commissioner, TN Mannen, today directed all civilians to deposit their firearms before the magistrates within 24 hours. Till the situation improves, civilians have been barred from carrying unauthorized fire arms in and around Shamator area as may be declared by the Tuensang district administration. Any firearms found after the expiry of the dateline are to be seized and appropriate action will be taken. 

Miscreants responsible for killing policemen are directed to surrender before the authority and the village found responsible for killing is to ensure producing the culprit(s) or criminal(s) before the authority, in the absence of voluntary surrender. “If the villagers fail to comply with this directive, serious action shall be taken against the village.” The district administration has been asked to seriously organizing an operation in consultation with the paramilitary forces to ensure the rule of law in and around the affected area.
