Shamator hosts exhibition football match to promote drug-free society

Shamator, June 20 (MExN): An exhibition football match was organised in Shamator district as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), with active participation from various civil society organisations (CSOs) to promote awareness against substance abuse and encourage community engagement.

The programme was led by Sangtsui, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Shamator, while Deputy Commissioner of Shamator and Chairman of NCORD Shamator, Arikumba, NCS, attended the event as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Athrong, NCS, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Shamator, highlighted the importance of community participation in combating substance abuse and stressed the role of sports and other positive engagements in promoting a healthy and drug-free society.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Arikumba appreciated the active involvement of civil society organisations in the campaign and called upon all stakeholders to continue supporting the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan through collective action and sustained public awareness.

The exhibition match served as a platform to strengthen community participation while spreading the message of a drug-free and healthy society.

The football match was played between a combined team of Gaon Buras (GBs) and Ward Leaders and a team comprising the Shamator Town Students’ Union and the Shamator Town Public Forum.

The GBs and Ward Leaders’ team emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline.

The organisers said the programme was aimed at encouraging greater public involvement in the nationwide campaign against drug abuse while promoting healthy lifestyles through sports and community participation.
