Pungro, January 5 (MExN): The Fakim Village Students’ Union (FVSU), in pursuance to the directive (Public Notice) of Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) on Tuesday, has informed to all concerned that no government officials, researchers and tourist (both domestic and international) etc will be allowed to visit the Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary till further order from the tribal apex organisation (YTC).
FVSU, President, Tsuseki and General Secretary, Lethreyam in a press release cautioned that if any untoward incident occurs, the union will not be held responsible.
According to reports, the entry to Mt Saramati has also been closed to researchers “since government has failed to fulfill” the demand for upgradation of Shamator to district.

As part of its first phase agitation, for creation of a full-fledged Shamator district, the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) on the second day (January 4) had imposed several restrictions including indefinite shutdown of Likimro Hydro Electric Project.
The YTC also issued a public notice prohibiting government officials, researchers or tourists (both domestic and international) from visiting or conducting any activities at the Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary, Mt Saramati and the stone caves at Mimi and Salomi villages.
Stating that “all sorts of activities at the aforementioned sites shall indefinitely remain suspended henceforth,” it directed all individuals or officers currently stationed in those areas to “withdraw or exit within 24 hours” with effect from January 4.
