Shaurya Chakra for Naga lad

PRESIDENT OF India has approved conferment of the Shaurya Chakra Award for Vezoto Tinyi from Nagaland who is serving as Assistant Commandant in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Vezoto from the Chakhesang community residing in Dimapur has been conferred the award in recognition of his act of gallantry in fighting with the militants at Ram Janam Bhoomi/Babri Maszid Complex at Ayodhya.

The announcement was relayed through a message on January 25 issued by V.K Duggal, Union Home Secretary. According to family sources, Vezoto is presently in Delhi.

It may be mentioned that on July 5, 2005, five militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at the Babri-Masjid-Ram Janambhumi complex in Ayodhya, after they had stormed the premises. Vezoto was among the CRPF personnel manning the site who foiled the attempt of the militants.
