On Sunday, there was yet another incident of factional gun battle. It comes just after the August 24 incident at Kiphire, where one cadre was killed in a clash between the NSCN-K and the GPRN/NSCN.
The shootout occurred near the Dimapur-Peren inter-district boundary at a forested area between Ghowoto and Lothavi villages, falling under Dhansiripar sub-division, Dimapur. The site of the shootout is not far from the NSCN-IM headquarters - Hebron camp. It occurred between 8:00-8:30 pm.
According to information received from sources, two persons reported to be cadres of the NSCN-K were wounded. One of the injured was shifted to a hospital in Dimapur by villagers in the vicinity while the second could not be traced. The second cadre, believed to have been grievously wounded, took cover of the thickly forested area and escaped, the sources added.
