Sikkim reports 57 new COVID-19 cases, one more fatality

Gangtok, September 10 (PTI): Sikkim's COVID-19 tally rose to 30,501 as 57 more people tested positive for the virus while one more fatality pushed the death toll to 377, a health department bulletin said on Friday.

South Sikkim district registered 20 new cases followed by 19 in East Sikkim, 15 in South Sikkim and 3 in North Sikkim district.

The Himalayan state now has 847 active COVID-19 cases, as 28,980 people have recovered from the virus, it said.

At least 297 patients have migrated to other states, the bulletin said.

Sikkim''s COVID-19 positivity rate now is 10.4 per cent and the recovery rate is 95 per cent.

The state has so far tested 2,37,574 samples for COVID-19 including 547 samples in the last 24 hours.

Sikkim has administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to 95.55 per cent of the eligible population and fully vaccinated 39.99 per cent population, it added. PTI KDK
