Our Correspondent Kohima | March 15 Royal Tourniquets, Kohima Thunders and Kohima Hornbills ‘B’ won their respective matches on the third day of the ongoing 8th Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by the Nepali Baptist Church Youth Department at Jakhama Local Ground. Runners-up of last year’s edition – Kohima Hornbills ‘B’ playing the last match of the day knocked Woodland Cricket Club by 36 runs. Having won the toss, Hornbills elected to bat and set a target of 165 runs losing 8 wickets with Hekqito scoring highest with 32 runs followed by Sobin’s 26 runs. Woodland bowler Imti picked three wickets while Sepichum took 2 wickets. Chasing the target, Woodland CC lost just 4 wickets but only managed to score 128 runs in the 20 overs. Hekqito was declared man of the match. Earlier, in the first match Royal Tourniquets comfortably defeated Kohima Capitals by 8 wickets. Winning the toss, Capitals elected to bat first, but was bundled out in 16.1 overs for a paltry 69 runs. Vezuta and Peteneizo scored 11 runs each for Kohima Capitals while Tourniquet bowlers A. Chungshi and Akumtong claimed two wickets each. In the run-chase, Tourniquets achieved the target losing just 2 wickets. SS Alam’s 28 runs guiding the Tourniquets home in just 10.3 overs. Longsasüng was declared man of the match for claiming 3 rival wickets and also scoring 15 runs. In the second match of the day, Kohima Thunders beat Emerald Stars by 30 runs. Capitals took to bat on winning the toss and set a target of 120 losing 8 wickets in the 20 overs. Emerald bowler Hakho claimed two wickets. Chasing the target, all of Emerald’s batsmen were back in the pavillion by 16.4 overs scoring just 89 runs. Maremo claimed two wickets for Capitals while teammate Rokovoto grabbed 3 wickets and also scored 12 runs for the team to be adjudged man of the match.
