Kohima, September 21 (MExN): Draft Electoral Rolls for all Assembly constituencies across Nagaland were published on September 20 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, with October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, stated a DIPR report.
The draft rolls were published at the offices of Deputy Commissioners and District Election Officers across all districts, with representatives of recognised political parties collecting copies of the rolls. Citizens have been given time until October 20, 2026, to file claims and objections in the prescribed Forms 6, 7 and 8.
In Dimapur district, the draft publication was held at the Office Chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, attended by DC and District Election Officer Dr Tinojongshi Chang and representatives of all recognised political parties. The total number of electors in the three Assembly Constituencies of Dimapur district stood at 1,25,703 in 2025. During SIR 2026, a total of 36,629 electors were deleted, bringing the current total in the Draft Roll 2026 to 89,074.
Dr Chang clarified that the draft roll published on September 20 was not the final electoral roll and that the process of receiving claims and objections would continue. The final electoral roll would be published in November, he said, urging political parties to scrutinise the draft carefully and bring discrepancies to the notice of the election office.
In Chümoukedima district, the draft rolls for 4-Ghaspani-I and 5-Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituencies were published. The notices were issued by T Lemlila Sangtam, NCS, ERO for Ghaspani-I, and P. James Swu, NCS, ERO for Ghaspani-II. The claims and objections period runs from September 20 to October 20, 2026.
In Mokokchung district, a total of 1,56,302 pre-draft electors (73,890 male and 74,512 female) were identified after house-to-house enumeration and digitalisation. However, in reference to the previous 2005 electoral roll, a total of 7,900 electors remained uncollectable due to deaths, absence, permanent shifting, already enrolled and other reasons, DC and DEO Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, said. The notice phase and disposal of cases will continue till November 18, 2026.
In Wokha district, a total of 1,08,818 Enumeration Forms were printed and distributed, out of which 1,02,271 forms were received back and digitised, resulting in a net deletion of 6,547 electors. The draft electoral roll records 37th Tyui AC at 24,840; 38th Wokha AC at 28,252; 39th Sanis AC at 23,426; and 40th Bhandari AC at 25,753. Three new polling stations were created. The final publication is scheduled for November 22, 2026.
In Tseminyu district, the draft electoral roll comprises 23,104 electors, including 11,123 male and 11,976 female electors, besides 136 service voters. A total of 24,246 forms were processed, of which 23,104 were verified. The remaining 1,142 cases were categorised as uncollectible. The claims and objections period commenced on September 20 and will continue until November 18, 2026.
In Longleng district, Additional Deputy Commissioner and ERO Thungchanbemo Tungoe, NCS, formally handed over copies of the draft electoral rolls to representatives of political parties, urging them to actively participate through their Booth Level Agents. In Tamlu, a public notice was issued for the 49 Tamlu Assembly Constituency, with claims and objections invited until October 20, 2026, in Forms 6, 7 and 8. Eligible citizens attaining 18 years on April 1, July 1 and October 1, 2026, may also submit advance applications in Form 6.
In Zunheboto district, the draft electoral roll covering all six Assembly Constituencies was published in the presence of representatives of the NPF, BJP, NPP and INC. The publication was carried out in accordance with a circular issued by DEO Dharam Raj, IAS, on September 18, 2026.
In Kiphire district, the draft publication was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Longdiba L. Sangtam, NCS. Electors may file claims and objections before Booth Level Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, or through the Voter Helpline App and the ECI portal.
In Peren district, DEO Hiazu Meru said the total electorate stands at 53,859, comprising 26,609 male and 27,250 female electors. The 6-Tening AC has 26,508 electors, while 7-Peren AC has 27,351. Polling Station No. 7/21-Jalukie B (N/W) was bifurcated. The notice and hearing period for No Mapping and anomaly cases will run from September 20 to November 18, 2026.
In Pughoboto, ADC James T Khulu Tikhir briefed political party representatives on the draft publication, with the claims and objections period from September 9 to October 20, 2026.
In Tuensang district, a total of 71,368 electors have been included in the draft roll, comprising 36,282 male and 35,086 female electors across four Assembly Constituencies. Two new polling stations were created. During enumeration, 80,400 forms were processed, of which 71,368 (88.77%) were verified, while 9,032 cases (11.23%) were recorded as uncollectible.
The SIR is being undertaken to ensure eligible citizens are included in the electoral roll and that the rolls remain accurate and updated. The final electoral roll for the State is scheduled to be published in November 2026.
