Kohima (mexn): Educated unemployed youths in the State have a good reason to celebrate with the Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) initiating a 10-day self employment programme here at the Entrepreneur Development & Integrate Training Institute (EDITI) Hall.
“It is good for the rural youths and good scope for the educated unemployed youth to realize their potential, “told Vetsutso Chizo to The Morung Express who is training in Bakery, He aspires to set up a Bakery unit after the training.
Another lady participant in pattern material and garment designing said that she was learning a lot and was interested to take it up as “a part time” job after the training.
This training, commenced on September 28 has attracted about 60 participants from across the state.
According to SIRD Course Director, Dr Kedise Pucho, the Government was contemplating extending financial assistance to participants wishing to set up self –employment activities after this training.
The participants, mostly graduates, are being imparted in flower making, hair dressing and beauty care, toy-making, embroidery, pattern material and garment construction, glass painting, dye, block making, bakery etc.
“Interesting. I am learning a lot and I hope that it would open my way into the world of self-employment activities, “said another participant in glass painting.
After graduation, most of the youth find its difficulty to go for future study and they remain idle and do not know how to go about in life, said Dr. Pucho adding the training has been designed to impart them about the importance of self-employment activities.
The venture aims to open the eyes of youths to understand their potential and capabilities in self-employment avenues.
It also focuses on the values of work culture and self-independence, to acquaint opportunities existing in government departments as well as enable youths to be acquainted with multi-skill development processes.
“The response is very good,” Dr. Pucho said adding it has brought about great excitement amongst the participants.
This programme, featuring 2 days of orientation and the rest eight days as skill training course, would continue till October 8.
