Six cooperative societies receive marketing van in Tuensang dist

The launching programme of Cooperative Marketing Pick-Up Van assisted under Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) was organised by Department of Cooperation, Tuensang at Town Hall, Tuensang on July 28.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary societies, Hangthing Khiamniungan, Chairman Jungyam Fishery Cooperative Society, Noklak village thanked the Department of Cooperation, Tuensang and District Administration, Tuensang for giving the vehicles in times of need. 

Narrating his early days, dating back to 1987, when he first started collecting saplings along with his friends Hangthing said, “Changes doesn’t come by seeing; we needed to it pragmatically to do something for our forest, so along with few of my friends we started a cooperative society.”

Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang & Chairman DLCC, ICDP Kumar Ramnikant, IAS gave away the marketing vehicles and delivered a short speech.

He applauded the contribution of the farmers and said that agriculture being the main occupation in India is a well known fact and farmers are the biggest and most important part of the population. “If farmers stop working, there will be shortage of food essentials and in my opinion farmers are given less importance in the society.”

He congratulated the Department of Cooperation and the beneficiaries and stated that the department has done a tremendous job in identifying the performing beneficiary villages and taking the initiative to provide vehicles to them.

Stating the importance of vehicles in market linkage he said, “The market is in the villages and with the right market with good linkage, there will be growth and the demands will increase. Therefore, I encourage all the cooperative societies to have the mindset of sharing and exploring between villages with the help of the departments and the District Administration.”

Altogether, six beneficiaries including Saoshou VDB MPCS Ltd, Tsadang Village VDB MPCS Ltd, Alisopur Village VDB MPCS Ltd, Jungyam Fishery CS Ltd, Shobe Agri & Allied CS Ltd and Chendang Village Integrated MPCS Ltd received the marketing pick-up vans.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Akangjongshi, ARCS, Tuensang and dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Kaimang, Pastor, Chendang Village Baptist Church.
