Jakhama, March 4 (MExN): St Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama, Department of English organised the 8th Theatre Day, 2023 at the college Indoor Stadium on March 4. During the occasion, drama competition was held on the theme, ‘treasuring the unique Indian literature identity,’ stated a press release received here.
BA II ‘C’ performed ‘Abhijana Shakuntala’ by Kalidasa. BA II ‘D’ put up ‘The Battle of Kurukshetra (Mahabhrata)’ by Vyasa. BA IV ‘C’ enacted ‘The English Teacher’ by RK Narayan while BA IV ‘D’ put up ‘Mricchakatika: by Sudraka. BA VI ‘C’ performed Bhimayana by BR Ambedkar while BA VI ‘D’ put up ‘Devdas’ by Sarat Chandra. MA II performed ‘The Rise of Sivahami (Bahubali)’ by Anand Neekalantan while MA IV enacted ‘Untouchable’ by Mulk Raj Anand.
MA II emerged winner followed by BA VI ‘C’ and BA VI ‘D’ as the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. Votsolu Tunyi of MA II won the ‘Best Actress’ and Rokoto Khate of MA II won ‘Best Actor’ titles.
HOD, James HK gave away the prizes to the winners. Special performance was presented by Malvin Solo.
