Department of Botany, St Joseph University (SJU) conducted Green Fest on September 27.
Chümoukedima, September 28 (MExN): Department of Botany, St Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima conducted Green Fest with the theme ‘Back to nature in the future’ on September 27. In the technical session, Dr Kinitoli H Yeptho, Dean of Academics spoke on importance of knowledge and education.
The guest speaker Dr Lamsunep, Deputy Director, RCFC- NER CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam spoke on importance of the community forest model (future model), plantation of pollution absorbing trees in Nagaland, the destruction of natural habitat due to human activities, role and activities of Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) in recovery of natural habitat, and benefits of stress relieving plants.
The second session consisted of poster and model display competitions based on the fest theme, solo singing, and dance competitions. Students from various departments participated in the events. Prizes were distributed to first and runner-up positions.
