SJU conducts webinar on ‘Recent trends in Biotechnology’

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Department of Biotechnology, St Joseph University (SJU) Dimapur, organized an international webinar on ‘Recent trends in Biotechnology’ on November 27. It was attended by faculties, research scholars and students of various fields. 

PRO SJU in a press release stated that the programme started with inaugural speech by Dr J Robert Edwin Chester, Registrar, SJU and Dr Amrita Difusa, HOD of Biotechnology Department, SJU delivered the welcome speech.

The resource person for first session was Dr Kanagaraju Ponnusamy, Research Associate in centre for Haematology, Department of Immunology and Inflammation, Imperial college of London. The guest speaker talked about the ‘Genomics: Recent trends and future’ and enlightened us about its prospect and research areas. 

The second session was very informative especially for the North eastern people. The guest speaker was Dr P Sivasakthivelan, a young scientist awardee - Indian association of applied microbiology in 2017. He is currently working as Assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural microbiology, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. He shared his experience and showed us the thrust areas in Spirulina cultivation. He spoke on the topic ‘Importance of Spirulina cultivation in North Eastern India for promoting agripreneurial avenues for life science graduates’.
