DIMAPUR, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Department of Physics at St. Joseph University (SJU), in collaboration with the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a special lecture titled “Aspects of Physics in Nanoscience” on August 23.

The event, held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., attracted participation from students and faculty members across various departments within the institution.

The primary objectives of the lecture were to raise awareness among students about nanoscience and nanotechnology and to introduce them to different nanomaterials, inspiring them to pursue further research in this cutting-edge field.

The session was chaired by Sr. Angelle Shingnaisui, an MSc 3rd-semester Physics student, and began with an invocation led by Lucy N. Ngullie, Assistant Professor. Dr. G. John James, Assistant Professor, delivered the welcome address, followed by an introduction to the speaker by Dr. Gowri S.A., Head of the Department of Physics.

Dr. M. Kumaresavanji, Assistant Professor at National College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, served as the keynote speaker. He provided an insightful overview of nanotechnology and its everyday applications, discussing the various intersections of nanoscience with physics and other disciplines.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Kezia, a UG 3rd-semester Physics student, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, organizers, and participants. The program ended with a benediction by Sr. Mary Grace, a UG 5th-semester Physics student, and a group photograph was taken to commemorate the event.

The lecture introduced students and faculty members to the fundamentals of nanoscience, covering its historical development, contributions from various scientists, and its significance in research and economic development.
