SJU students visit Shalom Rehab Centre

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): The Education Department, St. Joseph University went on a field visit to Shalom Rehabilitation Centre (for substance abuse and alcohol), located at 7th mile Chümoukedima. 

Altogether 49 students along with 2 faculty members participated in the field visit with the main purpose/objectives to enable the students to understand the rehabilitation programmes, to participate and learn from the programme conducted, and to be motivated by those under treatment. 

The Shalom Rehabilitation Centre is a Christian response of the Catholic Church of Nagaland to the menace of substance abuse in society. The students learnt how the patients/clients got into addiction due to peer pressure, stress, personal problems, etc which  causes a consequence of both mental and physical illness and being isolated from society, separation from the ones, etc, a press release from the department informed.

 The centre works to help patients to recover from their addictions.
