DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): Poultry farming is one of the sustainable enterprises for livelihood security. Looking into the potentiality of poultry farming in Longleng district, ICAR KVK Longleng organised five-day skill development training programme for rural youth on the topic “Backyard Poultry Rearing for Income generation” from September 29 to October 3 at KVK office. 

A press release issued by Sr Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr Lily Ngulli informed that the participants include educated unemployed youths, school drop outs and school going students. 

Topics on scientific housing, chicks, grower, layer management, feeding and disease management, economics on poultry farming, practical demonstration on handling chicks, vaccination, use of drinker and feeder were covered during the training programme. 

The participants were given chicks, starter feeds, liquid vitamins, drinker and training completion certificate. All together 20 rural youths from different villages attended the training programme.
