Participants take part in a hands-on demonstration on detergent making during the two-day Skill Development Training programme.

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): A two-day Skill Development Training programme on ‘Small Household Enterprise’ was organized by STINER-TFC, SASRD: NU, Medziphema campus, Nagaland centre on January 20 and 21 at LMLC, Chümoukedima.
Held in collaboration with Life Ministry Learning Centre (LMLC) Chümoukedima and District Administration and District level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra (BBBP) Mokokchung, the training programme was held with the objective to create an entrepreneurial mindset and enhance the proficiency of an individual, a press release informed on Saturday.
According to the release, the training programme was initiated to impart skills through small household income generating activities, which will help an individual to identify, train and nurture their innate talent in the desired field and also earn from it. It was an intensive two days hands-on training programme which covered topics such as soap making, detergent and liquid disinfectant, water soluble calcium, mushroom cultivation, kitchen gardening, banana fiber extraction- value addition, smoke-free drying of meat and vermicomposting.
The resource persons were experts from LMLC, Chümoukedima, STINER-TFC, SASRD:NU, Medziphema campus and ABFAB, Dimapur. The entire programme was divided into different sessions and each session was followed by interaction and feedback from the participants, the release stated.
The programme was hosted by Samuel Therieh, Director, LMLC, Chümoukedima, while the opening remark was delivered by Dr Sentirenla Changkiri, Project Assistant, STINER-TFC, SASRD: NU, Medziphema campus.
Speaking at the closing event of the programme, Prof Akali Sema, Project In-charge, STINER-TFC and Dean SASRD, NU, Medziphema campus, encouraged the participants to imbibe skills that are productive and be consistent in it. She further emphasized on the importance of nurturing the skills that one has and making the best out of it, stating that “What the world needs today is not more of educated people but more of skilled people,” the release quoted her as saying.
The programme concluded with a word of God by Alemla, Proprietor, LMLC, Chümoukedima. A total of 15 participants comprising of students, unemployed youths, housewives and SHGs from Mokokchung district participated in the programme, according to the release.
