Sükrünye celebration at Phek town

The Phek Town Public Forum (PTPF) is all set to celebrate Siikriinye & cultural day from January 14 to 15 at Phek Town Local Ground under the theme “Echoes of the past.”

Sükrünye is the premier festival of the Chakhesang Nagas.

Nagaland’s higher education & tourism minister Temjen Imna Along will be the cultural guest on January 14 while Nagaland’s roads & bridges minister G. Kaito Aye will be Sükrünye guest on January 15.The programme on day one will be chaired by Khosapa Venuh while Api Vadeo, president PTPF will deliver the welcome address.

Phek deputy commissioner John Tsulise Sangtam will assist lifting of Radebo while act of blessings will be pronounced by Niepayi Venuh, head GB Phek town. The celebration will be marked by folk song, ululating, top fight and push of war competition.

Day two programme will be chaired by Dr. K. Hoshi while MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, leader NPF Legislature party will be Sükrünye host and deliver welcome address.

Day 2 event will be marked by traditional fire making, weaving, match box bean game and greased bamboo pole climbing competition.
