SLC meeting focuses on NEP 2020, NBA accreditation & internship opportunities

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 3 (MExN): The 4th State Level Committee (SLC) meeting, under the State Council for Technical Education (SCTE), was held on January 30 at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Technical Education, Kohima. The SLC, an executive body overseeing technical education in the state, discussed several key issues impacting the landscape of technical education in Nagaland.

A DIPR report stated that during the meeting, the committee reviewed the new curriculum designed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on its implications and preparedness for implementation. The discussion also covered the ongoing process of NBA accreditation for all polytechnics in Nagaland, highlighting the importance of quality assurance in technical education.

Other important topics included the need for a degree engineering college in the state and addressing the lack of adequate internship opportunities for technical students. The committee emphasized the significance of creating more industry connections to improve student engagement and career readiness.

The meeting was chaired by Rajesh Soundararajan, Commissioner & Secretary of Higher & Technical Education, and Chairman of the SLC. Key members present included Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, Director of Technical Education, Dr. Urmila Kar from NITTTR Kolkata, Dr. Sujata Dash from Nagaland University, and representatives from NIT Nagaland, PWD, and the Department of Technical Education.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Member Secretary, Er. Khrieketoulie Rupreo, COE-TE, acknowledging the valuable contributions of all members in addressing the critical issues in the state’s technical education sector.
