Kohima, September 30 (MExN): The State Level Census Coordination Committee (SLCCC) reviewed the progress of Census 2027 and preparations for its second phase at a meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Chief Secretary at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Complex, Kohima, on September 29.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary and SLCCC Chairman Sentiyanger Imchen and attended by senior officials from various departments.
Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration Dr Keneilhoutuolie Miachieo briefed the committee on the progress of Phase-I and preparations for Phase-II.
Phase-I comprised the House Listing Operations (HLO), with the Self-Enumeration exercise conducted from June 16 to 30, followed by the House Listing and Housing Census from July 1 to 30. The exercise was completed as scheduled through digital mode across 157 charges in the State.
The committee reviewed the tentative schedule for Phase-II, which will focus on Population Enumeration. Self-Enumeration is proposed from January 10 to 24, 2027, followed by Population Enumeration from January 25 to February 28. A Revision Round is proposed from March 1 to 5.
The meeting also discussed training for personnel involved in the exercise, including master trainers, field trainers, technical assistants, supervisors and enumerators. The committee stressed the need for adequate training and preparedness at each level.
Plans for media and publicity to increase public awareness and participation were also discussed, along with financial requirements for Phase-II.
Senior officials from the departments of Home, Finance, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, School Education and SCERT, Rural Development, Land Revenue, Information Technology and Communication, Information and Public Relations, along with officials from the Census Directorate and Office of the State Coordinator, attended the meeting.
As per the State DIPR, the discussions focused on inter-departmental coordination and preparations for the timely conduct of the Population Enumeration exercise in Nagaland.
