This is the first time since 2014 (see table) that the registration of vehicles declined and going by the overall national data, the trend could be attributed to ongoing economic slowdown in India.

The total number of vehicle registrations in Nagaland as of January 10, according to the Dashboard, was 3, 32,287, averaging roughly around 6 persons per vehicle when computed on the basis of 2011 census.

Nationally, however, all the three indicators- registration, transaction and revenue collection- saw declining trends during the same period.

Vehicle registration fell by 4.23% from 2.22 crore in 2018 to 2.13 in 2019. Likewise, the number of transaction declined from 9.22 crore in 2018 to 8.02 crore in 2019 (or by 13.09 %).
