‘SMC is for better management of education system’

Teachers advised to love their job and avoid keeping proxies

  Kohima, April 15 (MExN): The Community Mobilization & Sensitization Training was held at Education Block Resource Centre (EBRC) Tseminyu Town on April 12 with School Management Committee (SMC) leaders and government teachers. Thongsenlo, Assistant District Coordinator, DMA SSA, Kohima appealed to the community leaders to be the agent of change for quality education through timely meeting with parent, teachers and constant supervision and monitoring of the teachers and students activities and learning level. He appealed to the SMCs member to discuss the issue of schools, the gaps and short coming and set a target for better performance of students so that they can provide quality education to our children.  

Chen Kath, SIS Hq, SDEO, Tseminyu told the SMCs leaders that they are the most responsible person for determining the success and failure of students and they should not take advantage of ignorant parent’s children. Vikhweno, ADC Tseminyu said that formation of SMCs is to look after the schools for better management of education system. She said that without Communitization Act one cannot meet or discuss for education system, which is the biggest empowerment of people. The ADC urged the SMC and teachers to do away with “blaming games” which destroy all the system and instead perform own duties and responsible which create good atmospheres.  

She challenged the teachers that they are well qualified and trained but their students cannot even read and write or speaks English which shows their sincerity and asked them to “love their job and avoid proxy teachers which kills the generation.” She encourage the community that the best asset in the Village is the School and it should be care and request them to invest in the school so that they can be advance in all areas without education non can be advance and also appeal the department to keep constant monitor and supervision.  

Theyievilie Suohumvu, Deputy Mission Director SSA Nagaland also stress on Communitization Act saying that it empowers people to have ownership and belongingness and urged the teachers to be honest and truth to their duty and also do away with bogus enrollment which created a lot of problems.  

During the whole day training the following resource persons spoke on the following topics respectively: Mchonchumo Kithan, Additional Director Treasuries & Accounts & Finance Controller SSA - Maintenance of Accounts and Audit; Shilu, A.O, Joint Director SCERT - RTE Act 2009, Role and Responsibilities of SMCs; Khukiye Awomi Deputy Mission Director SSA - Special training for out of school children; Hekielie Keditsu Deputy Mission Director SSA -Civil Works And Swacch Bharat; Meren, A.O Assistant Coordinator SSA - Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat & Computer Added Learning; Nukshila Angh, I.E Coordinator SSA - Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs; Soti Tep, Trainer of Teachers (TOTs) -Quality and UDISE.  

A press release stated that the training was attended by around 172 members of SMCs/Head Teachers/Teacher–in-Charge and Village/Ward leaders along with official.
