Kohima, March 15 (MExN): The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at DPDB Conference Hall on March 15. A DIPR report stated that Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kohima Dr Vezokholu Theyo informed the members on the ongoing social health camp. The camp commenced from March 15 at Keziekie Panchayat Hall; Ura Academy, Mission Compound; New Market Panchayat Hall and Lower Chandmari-waiting shed, taxi junction, which will continue every Tuesday and Thursday in urban colonies under the district.

The initiative was taken during a meeting with the All Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) on January 15 at DC’s conference hall, Kohima “to protect the co-morbid group of people from COVID death as most of the deaths during the pandemic were of co-morbid cases who were unaware of their health status.”

The CMO informed that to assess the co-morbid groups in the areas, a format was brought out for mapping of the co-morbid disease prevalence in the community, where 10 wards have submitted out of 19 wards. She said the health camp was a new initiative for Kohima district to protect the identified co-morbid group who will be given free medication and health strengthening through National Urban Health Mission.

“Target approach to those with unknown status of hypertension and diabetes while known statuses are encouraged to adhere to the treatment,” CMO said, adding that targeted groups were 30 years and above, pregnant women and those less than 30 years but have a family history. In this connection, CMO requested the members to pass on the message in respective areas to protect co-morbid clients to avoid Covid morbidity and mortality in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB, Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS thanked the Medical department and CMO and her team for taking the initiative at the district level and said that people should make use of the facilities at their doorsteps. He pointed out the importance of health status, precautionary measures, and COVID protocols, which still need to be taken care of as the COVID situation was not over yet.

Reviewing the last meeting minutes on registration of societies, the DC requested the officers involved in the screening process to give factual reports while verifying the documents for the genuine benefit of the society.

Based on the verification report given by the screening committee, the meeting decided to recommend the two societies, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Old NST and North East Leaders Connect, Khroliezou Colony, L Khel to the Government for further necessary action.
