Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): Various institutions and organizations of Nagaland will organize different activities to commemorate World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5 annually.
Dimapur Municipal Council
Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all the residents of Dimapur municipal area that there will be a mass social work on June 5 from 6:00 am to 8:00 am in line with the United Nations’ theme of ‘Beat plastic pollution’. The social work will concentrate only on plastic waste, said a press release from DMC Administrator Moa Sangtam. All colony chairmen and GBs have been requested to work out one collection point, where all the plastics will be collected. DMC will co-ordinate with the colony authority in collecting the plastic from one particular location in the respective colony, the release added, requesting all to join in the social work.
Kohima Law College
Kohima Law College will begin observance of World Environment Day on June 4, when it will conduct social work to clean up plastic litter around the college compound and the surroundings to beat plastic pollution and curtail use of plastic. It will also carry out plantation.
On June 5, the students of Kohima Law College led by their professors will go to Dzükou (Southern Angami Dzükou) to participate in the Dzükou Clean Mission organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA).
A press release from Kezhokhoto Savi, Professor-in-Charge, Students’ Welfare, Kohima Law College further informed that launching of Books Sarvahitey Library Project will be held on June 4 at 10:00 am in the college campus, which will be followed by the social work.
Savi has requested all the students to assemble by 9:30 am on June 4 and also bring spade, dao, etc. The college authority has imposed a penalty of Rs. 200/- on every absentee, he added.
NCCAF
The Nagaland Community Conserved Areas Forum (NCCAF) will observe World Environment Day on June 5 with the theme ‘Say No to Plastic’ across the State. The NCCAF in a press release has requested all its registered CCAs to observe the day at their respective village(s) and submit the program report(s) to the Forum with write-ups and photographs.
OBASSI, Nagaland Chapter
In commemoration of the World Environment Day, the Old Boys Association of Sainik School Imphal (OBASSI), Nagaland Chapter will organize a plantation drive in and around Dimapur District Hospital on June 5. Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, Commissioner of State Taxes will grace the occasion as a special invitee. The association in a press release issued by its president, C. Lima Imsong has requested all Old Boys to report sharp at 7:00 am on June 5 at the venue.
