Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) today lauded educational institutions that have extended their summer vacations in response to its earlier appeal but pressed others to follow suit.
Earlier, the union had issued an appeal for the extension of vacation in educational institutions in and around Dimapur citing ongoing heatwave and high humidity.
However, the DNSU expressed concern that some educational institutions have not taken similar measures and they continue to disregard the health and safety of students despite extreme temperatures, exacerbated by recent rains.
Accordingly, it “sternly” cautioned these schools that if any adverse health issues arise due to the heat, they will be held solely accountable.
“ It is their responsibility to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment. Neglecting this duty will have serious consequences,” stated a press release from Kevin Gonmei, Secretary, Education, DNSU. It further reiterated its appeal to extend their summer vacations until the severe humidity subsides saying health and well-being of students cannot be compromised.
The DNSU will take all necessary actions to protect the well-being of students, it added. The union also urged the students and parents to report to the office of DNSU if any student gets adverse health issues due to heat wave by contacting its Education Secretary at 9863455830.
