Something terribly wrong with NU: NMA

Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): The regular and continuous agitations plaguing Nagaland University only goes to show that something certainly must be ‘terribly wrong’ with the institution, the Naga Mothers’ Association is convinced.

Expressing ‘pain,’ the Naga mothers took strong note of the continuous protests and agitations by the Nagaland University Teachers’ Association, against the apparent arrogant and callous attitude of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. K. Kannan, ever since he took charge of office. The most recent instance is the one when the teachers were compelled to “shut down all academic departments.” “… (This) goes to say that something is terribly wrong” the NMA observed in a note from its executives.

“In this regard, the NMA want to say that, this is not only a problem of the teachers of the Nagaland University alone, but has become a serious concern of all Naga parents, where, our children (students) are victimized for (no fault of theirs). At the same time, the seemingly indifferent attitudes of concerned authorities also have become a matter of serious concern” the mothers stated.

As concerned and effected parents, the NMA urged the Chief Rector of Nagaland University (Governor of Nagaland) to initiate necessary steps on “at least” the genuine and legitimate demands of the Nagaland University Teachers’ Association and restore some sense of “orderliness” in the one and only university in Nagaland.
