In a display of relentless dominance, Son Kük Laang FC overpowered DEF Tuensang in a resounding 6-0 victory at the 32nd Loyem Memorial Trophy semifinal on Sunday, October 29, in Tuensang town. The match, attended by Col Retd Isak Sumi, Ato Kilonser NSCN/GPRN & Co-Convenor W/G NNPG, as the guest of honour, saw Son Kük Laang FC impose their game from the outset, showcasing the skill and strength that has marked them as defending champions.
The tone for the onslaught was set early when Lima opened the scoring in the 15th minute, triggering a series of quick goals that would soon overwhelm the men in uniform. By the 21st minute, captain Hanglen struck to extend the lead, paving the way for Shano’s remarkable hat trick with goals in the 24th, 29th, and 40th minutes. Shano’s precision and pace created an unstoppable force on the field, as he consistently broke down DEF Tuensang’s defenses.
DEF Tuensang, the group runners-up, arrived hoping to unsettle the champions, but they struggled against the superior tactics and cohesive gameplay of Son Kük Laang. DEF’s defensive efforts found no answers to the fierce attacks, and as the second half began, Son Kük Laang sustained the same momentum with relentless pressure, forcing DEF’s goalkeeper to make several critical saves. However, in the 58th minute, Semingthang added the final blow, cementing a 6-0 route that secured Son Kük Laang’s place in the tournament’s final match.
With their sights set on lifting the trophy, Son Kük Laang FC will face either Nyenshen FC or Tiaren FC, who are set to clash in the second semifinal on October 30 at the Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground. The defending champions will undoubtedly bring their well-oiled machine into the final, prepared to defend their title against whichever opponent stands in their way.
