Newmai News Network IMPHAL | APRIL 27 A high-power committee (HPC) will soon be set up to settle the grievances of the Mapithel dam-affected villagers/residents. The decision of the same was today after a meeting between IFC officials and a large delegation of Mapithel Dam affected villagers chaired by IFCD Minister Haokip in the Conference Hall of Manipur Secretariat. Parliamentary Secretary (PHED) and MLA of Phungyar Assembly Constituency, Leishiyo Keishing also attended the meeting. The HPC will be headed by Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD) Minister, Letpao Haokip and members from PHED, CAF&PD, Works and Agriculture Ministers apart from three representatives each from Mapithel Dam-affected bodies. After hearing to the grievances put forth by the affected village chiefs/headmen of the dam-affected villagers, Haokip assured to bring the matter to the higher authority for prompt redressal of their grievances. Asserting that the State government would spare no efforts in redressing the genuine grievances of the dam-affected villagers, the Minister sought the cooperation of the affected villagers so that the Government solved the matter once and for all. Chiefs/Headmen of about 17 villages affected by the upstream and downstream of Mapithel Dam were led in today’s meeting by M Ngaranmi, Co-Chairman, Mapithel Dam Affected Coordination Committee (MDACC). Secretary (IFCD) Gopen Meitei, Chief Engineer (IFCD) Ksh. Pritam Singh and other officials of IFC Department were also present in the meeting.
