One may ponder over the above title. Here, allow it, to stand as an explanation vis-a-vis immense major problems that has plagued the Contemporary Naga society. It is obvious, that (the word) ‘problem’ when mentioned, always at first is understood & translates to economic problems, common social problems and so on.
The picture contrasts here. When Every effort is being made to bring about an ‘honourable solution’ to the long Indo-Naga vexed problem through various factions, NGO’s, Churches, and through other mechanisms like Student bodies & media fraternity lending moral support & Various Political parties making laudable effort, in unison, irrespective of different parties & ideologies they represent, ---Our Society is still clogged with confusion & crisis. Many of the Naga Populace –at the present scenario doesn’t even have, handful clue about the Naga -freedom-struggle or the inflicting hardships they have had faced in the past, nor do they give credentials to any of the story that any Naga Historian, may pour out for reason(s) best known to them. Most of the Nagas living in and out of the State have too-little an information ( if I may say) about the present political- struggle or about those (past)initial struggle days right from the formation of Naga Club in the 80’s. (Some even asks Bitur manu khan toh ki koria?)( Independent pailebi ki khabo??) lamentfully, this is where our intellectual thinking stands today. Should, we, construct this notion as a complete negligence about our own backyard or lack of Information or gap in information? It really is a question to ponder upon by every right thinking Nagas. In my own point of view, agreed or not, many Nagas are still of the view that the ongoing political dialogue between GOI and various factions have nothing to do with their interests. Lets be Realistic, I as an ordinary Naga citizen has had faced many situations and seen these, ‘’Sorry- State- of- affairs.’’
Here, the point is not about ridiculing anybody; but its about holding ourselves accountable for all these narrow approaches. The Need of the hour is to undertake & reinforce consistent political education of the Nagas in terms of nation building exercise & further consolidating our uniqueness history.Hence, in the best interests, we must vehemently wake up form these concocted dreams and feed ourselves some profound information about the past & present struggle, then only shall we able to convince ourselves that this (present) struggle is in the best interests of every soul. Free ourselves from the chains of selfishness, misguided propagandas--as Nagas were never on the lines of Joseph Goebbles’ concepts and wrong notions about any factions, political organisations and so on. Agreed, not every organisation could be any angel, Loop-holes & limitations does exists, mistakes beyond repair may prevail—but all these could be taken down in the right spirit of reconciliation involving every inch of Nagas, without questioning each credibility & evolve a consensus for broader consultations…..
