Kohima, June 6 (UNI): The implementation of Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies in Nagaland hung in uncertainty with the Gauhati High Court referring a PIL filed by the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) on May 29, to a Constitutional Bench of five Judges. According to official sources here today, a two-member Judge Bench has referred the case to the Constitutional Bench as the matter was “very serious in nature”. The case is scheduled for hearing by the end of this month, sources said.
The CPO had filed the PIL against what it termed as the erroneous 2001 Census of Nagaland, on the basis of which the Delimitation was supposed to be implemented. The Joint Action Committee on Delimitation and Chakhro Public Organisation had filed another intervention application, which the Court had admitted. The Delimitation Commission has convened a meeting with all the members and associate members on June 14 at New Delhi.
