‘Speed up connectivity projects in Northeast’

Maligaon, October 2 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), General Manager, Anshul Gupta held a Project Review Meeting at Maligaon in order to speed up various infrastructure developments and connectivity works in the entire Northeast and regions of West Bengal and Bihar falling under the jurisdiction of NFR. 

The meeting held on September 30 was attended by all the Principal Head of Departments, Chief Administrative officers of Construction Organisation and Divisional Railway Managers of all five divisions- Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia. In the meeting, detailed discussion on all the on-going new line projects of NF Railway constructions including Jiribam–Imphal (110.625 km), Dimapur–Kohima (82.50 km), Sivok–Rangpo (44.96 km), Bairabi–Sairang (51.38 km), Tetelia–Byrnihat (21.50 km), Byrnihat–Shillong (108.4 km), Araria–Galgalia (110.75 km), MurkongSelek–Pasighat (26.15 km), Agartala–Akhaura (12.03 km), Jogbani–Birat Nagar (Nepal) (18.60 km) and balance work New Mainaguri–Jogighopa project. 

GM/NFR reviewed in detail the existing and upcoming provision of passenger amenities, goods loading/unloading facilities of all the stations of NF Railway with the Divisional Railway Managers of respective divisions. He asked all concern officials for betterment of passenger amenities and developing the important stations of NFR up to international level. Stress was given on ease of movement of passengers at station platforms and circulating areas apart from provision of good quality waiting rooms/halls etc and provision of lift/escalators wherever required.

For further improving the movement of goods, GM asked all respective officials to focus on providing better facilities and infrastructure for transporters and other stake holders. Better infrastructure will lead to reduced transportation and loading/unloading time. Local economy will get the benefit of increased freight movement. The present status of all the on-going capacity enhancement works of NFR that are going on in various divisions was also reviewed by the GM, stated a press release issued by Guneet Kaur, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
