
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2 (MExN): In response to the unprecedented situation arising out of factional clashes and feuds between NSCN (K) and GPRN/NSCN in and around Kiphire district which is within ENPO jurisdiction, the ENPO held an emergency meeting at Kiphire Headquarters along with various civil organizations on 1st September 2012. A special ENPO team led by the President who arrived at Kiphire, were briefed by the local public on the facts and account of the developments and incidences upon arrival, and subsequent meeting was held with detail discussion with the public basing on the resolved principles of 18th December 2007 Tuensang Headquarters.
According to a press note from ENPO President P Pongom Khiam, the same resolution which was also incidentally reaffirmed on 13th November 2009 at Kiphire town was again collectively re-affirmed in March 2012 at Tuensang HQ. The Resolutions pertaining to the above was collectively and jointly resolved by the ENPO and frontal organizations, the six federating tribal units of the ENPO and members of Eastern Naga National Workers from various factions/groups in the interest of peace, tranquility and unity among the Naga factions/groups.
“Having taken stock of the situation at the ground level, it has been further proposed to have a wider consultative joint meeting between the concerned organizations for any course of steps that may be taken if necessary by the ENPO for the same around the 2nd week in September 2012 tentatively”, informed the press note.
The public meeting deliberated and focused on the frequent violations of the resolutions, in which the ENPO on behalf of the 6 (six) tribes of ENPO strongly urged all factions/groups to honour and adhere the joint resolutions of peace and tranquility and to strictly restraint from any forms of violence and conflict within ENPO jurisdiction.
The ENPO further urged the cease fire monitoring cell to ensure that the mutually agreed ground rules be strictly observed by the concerned parties so as to avoid conflict and disturbances within civilian areas.
