SSSUD condemns assault

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Sand Stockist and Supplier Union Dimapur (SSSUD) has condemned the assault on drivers and handymen of four of its trucks.

Accusing the Sand Mohalder and Supplier Association (SMSA) of Manja for the assault, the SSSUD informed that the drivers and handymen of the four dumper trucks were assaulted on the night of November 24.

While stating that the culprits were promptly arrested by the Police, the SSSUD called on the SP Diphu and the district administration to arrest the remaining culprits and not release them on bail.

Asserting that it was not the first time that the same culprits have assaulted drivers and handymen, the union cited five previous incidents of assault in the last 12 months.

Further encouraging the truck owners not to withdraw the FIR filed at Manja Police Station against the SMSA, the union assured its cooperation “until the SMSA syndicate is removed from NH-39 at Manja, Karbi Anglong.”

With regard to the indefinite bandh on sand import in Nagaland, the SSSUD requested sand suppliers not to panic. “The said mohalder is no more so the suppliers can do their business as normal,” the union claimed.
