SSTF receives financial aid from Baichung Bhutia

Former Indian football team captain Baichung Bhutia sent a video message encouraging the SSTF on May 5.

Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia extended support to the Suruhuto Subdivision Task Force (SSTF) under Zunheboto District on May 5.
He also sent a video message encouraging and congratulating the task force for the initiatives undertaken and to continue working hard in supporting State Government plans. He also assured that he would visit the sub division soon in the future.
The former captain of the Indian football team provided financial assistance to the task force, Hotoshe Sema Awomi, member of the SSTF told The Morung Express on Tuesday.
Awomi extended gratitude on behalf of the citizens of Suruhuto Area to Baichung Bhutia for his financial contribution and solidarity to SSTF. He stated that it would definitely boost the morale of the team and the people of the area during this difficult time. “Such gestures show his concerns for humanity and his inherent leadership qualities,” a statement from the SSTF also said.
The statement further informed that the SSTF has been receiving assistance from various sections of the society besides donation from Vice President of Shiv Naresh Pvt Llimited New Delhi dealing with sports infrastructure and equipment, Managing Director of General Electric (Pune ), CEO of Kass Trexim Pvt Ltd New Delhi and many others.
Awomi said that the fund will be utilized to enhance the Suruhuto Area’s preparedness during and even after the COVID-19 pandemic. “We have procured essential items and equipment for the quarantine centre in Suruhuto with the funds that have been received from well-wishers,” Awomi said. The quarantine centre is yet to be inaugurated but all the basic amenities and emergency stock of dry ration etc are ready, he added.
“The donations from well-wishers outside the state were mostly facilitated by wing Commander Akheto Jakhalu. We are very grateful to him,” Awomi said and extended gratitude to all the well wishers for their concern and contribution towards upgrading the facilities of SSTF.
Dr Kuzonyi Wideo SDO (civil ) Suruhuto, the chairman of the SSTF stated that preparation to improve the facilities to fight Covid-19 and mitigation measures will be a ongoing process. He was happy that with the quarantine/ isolation facilities in place and streamlining of the system, they can start taking stranded students and people in distress in a phased manner.
