
Chümoukedima, July 4 (MExN): With the outset of the 9th academic year, the St Joseph University, Chümoukedima commenced its annual five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) starting from July 4, based on the theme ‘Chokhmah.’
A press release received here stated that the FDP is an initiative of the University’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) which aims at fostering the educational endeavour and in honing the professionalism of Higher education among the teaching community echoing aptly withthe theme “the potential of what is”, or, “the potential to be.”
The first day of the FDP set with an inaugural session which was graced by the presence of our Most Rev Dr James, Thoppil D D, Bishop of Kohima, Pro-Chancellor of SJU along with the other dignitaries. The session started with a welcome address by Prof Charles Mhonthung Ezung, Dean of Student Affairs.
In the inaugural address, the Most Rev Dr James Thoppil D D exhorted on how the University thrives in promoting holistic, affordable, accessible, contextualized and need-based education to provide innovative and intuitive knowledge, to offer relevant employability, to instill moral and cultural values, to promote inclusivity, uniformity, diversity, sustainability, community engagement and social responsibility; and called it as a place of academic excellence.
He encouraged the teaching community tokeep intact and committed with the cause of educationby mentoring and accompanying the students to help them grow from the periphery so as to hone their wisdom and inculcate human and Christian values which is the mission of the University. He also gave the Episcopal blessing for the entire FDP.
The session was moderated by Dr Kinitoli H Yeptho, Dean of Social Science and ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Imkongsenla Longchar, Director- IQAC.
A total of 170 teaching faculties attended the session in the University auditorium.
