St. Joseph University observes National Enginner’s Day

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): National Engineer’s Day 2023 was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, St. Joseph University in association with the Institution of Engineers (IEI), India, Student’s Chapter on September 15 at 10:00 am. 

The program was hosted by Imnatula Pongen and Kerito. Invocation was done by Rev Sr Thaines Mary, Deputy Registrar. The welcome address was given by Edmund Vitsu and the Presidential address was given by Dr Gnanadurai, Vice Chancellor of SJU. 
A special song was presented by Ameka Shohe after which a short video was displayed on the screen. The speech was given by special guest, DA Shishak, Chairman of IEI Nagaland State Centre. He encouraged the students to be better engineers and to grow stronger, smarter and safer, and to try to get the best education, after which a special number was presented by first-year students.

Guest of Honour, Er A Lumtsala Sangtam, SDO, PWD (Housing) took her time to encourage the students to focus on quality education rather than just a degree, prioritise not for the work but for the quality and think outside the box, stand out and to make a difference along with being practical in studies. She winded up her speech by saying that failure in life should not disturb one’s goal.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Amekali Aye, and the programme ended with a benediction by Rev Fr L Anish, PRO-SJU. 
The four technical events were paper presentations, poster presentations, quiz, debate, spelling bee and non-technical events like esports competition. In the closing ceremony, the prize distribution was held where trophies and cash prizes were given to all the winning teams/participants from each event.
