St Joseph’s College cadets scale Mt Saramati, officer honoured

Five NCC cadets from St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama during the Mt Saramati expedition held on March 21, organised by NCC Group Kohima.

Kohima, March 23 (MExN): Five NCC cadets from St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama were among 40 cadets who participated in the Mt Saramati expedition held from March 13 to 21, organised by NCC Group Kohima.

The cadets—two boys and three girls—were part of the first batch of NCC cadets in Nagaland, as well as from the college, to successfully scale Mt Saramati, the highest peak in the state at 12,552 ft.

The participants included LCPL Jirhe Ngouri, LCPL Grace R Mozhui and CDT Hojila H from 1 Nagaland BN NCC, Kohima, and CPL Perampenthiubo and LCPL Vizosieto Kere from 24 Nagaland BN NCC, Kohima. The expedition involved 40 cadets, comprising 20 boys and 20 girls.

The team was felicitated on March 21 at the NCC Group Headquarters in Kohima.

On the same day, Maj Regina Razousinuo, Associate NCC Officer (Senior Wing) of the college from 1 Nagaland BN NCC under NCC Group Kohima, was conferred the Director General NCC Commendation Card and Medal for the third time by Brig Shantanu P Mainkar, Group Commander, NCC Group Kohima, in recognition of her dedication and performance.

The DG NCC Commendation Card for 2025 was announced on NCC Day (November 23, 2025) by the Directorate General NCC under the Ministry of Defence. The award includes a citation, badge and cash component.
