Shamator, October 23 (MExN): St Xavier School, Shamator held its annual sports and games meet from October 19 to 22 at the school ground. On the final day, special Guest Throngso Yimkhiung, the President of Yimkhung Tribal Council stressed on the importance of education as an "all round development.”

He also acknowledged and thanked the Catholic Institutions for undertaking the responsibility of bringing positive changes in the society through their services in educating and shaping the lives of many. “Be an asset to the society not a liability in the society," he advised the students.

On the concluding day, the school organised a Mini Marathon Race on the theme: “Living together in Peace and Harmony,” informed a press release from the school. 

It was flagged off by Tsüvisie Phoji, Deputy Commissioner, Shamator District.

Thongsangkiu, Chairman of Shamator Village Council who was the day’s Guest of Honour also noted that  winning and losing are not only part of games but in life too and called for not only rejoicing in victory but accepting defeat as well. 

“Whether we win or lose we must invariably try to excel in all that we do” he added. He gave away the prizes to the winners of the sports meet.

Meanwhile, Rev Fr Latsutho John Poji, school Principal, welcomed the guest, dignitaries, invitees and parents. He thanked them for the support and encouragement shown towards the institute. 

The school administration also thanked the Commandant of 14 Assam Riffles, Shamator, Anand Reddy, District Administration, Police personnel and medical team of Shamator for help rendered.
