Preparation for CCYA Convention at Thenyizumi.

KOHIMA, JANUARY 16 (MExN): The Chakhesang Catholic Youth Association (CCYA) Convention 2025 will take place at Thenyizumi village from January 17 to 20 under the theme “Be Transformed” (Romans 12:2).
Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima and Rev Fr George Vekupa Rhakho, Administrator of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, will be the main celebrants.
John Tsulise Sangtam, Deputy Commissioner of Phek will attend as the special guest on January 19 while Beituo Cyril Mepfhuo, President, Angami Catholic Youth Association will grace the introductory session.
Nuvesayi Edward Hoshi, President, Chakhesang Catholic Association will be the valedictory guest. The resource persons for the convention will include Rev Fr Kokto Kurian, Director of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement; Rev Fr George Vekupa Rhakho, Administrator of St Xavier College, Jalukie and Avisa John, an aerobics and fitness instructor, lifeguard and swimming instructor, certified diet and nutrition counsellor, certified first aider, and physical education teacher in the Department of School Education.
The convention will commence with introductory session on January 17 at 3 PM.
Welcome address will be delivered by Rev Fr Charles Phom, Spiritual Animator while greetings will be shared by Dr Rosou Ronald Pohena, President, Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM).
The session will also include parish introductions by parish presidents and a Rosary, Confession, and Adoration at the Auxilium Convent, Thenyizumi.
On January 18, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil will lead the Eucharistic Celebration, during which the new team of CCYA office bearers will be declared and blessed by the Bishop.
The day will also feature workshops and sessions on topics such as “My Catholic Faith” and “The Church and Its Identity”, along with aerobic dance, choral competition and skit competition.
On January 19, Rev Fr George Vekupa Rhakho will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration, followed by a felicitation programme that will include a presidential address by Zhovi David Zholia and a speech by the special guest. The organisers announced that over 500 delegates from five parishes are expected to participate in the convention.
