Mokokchung, August 8 (MExN): To cater to the needs of people in Mokokchung district, COVID relief materials including special home isolation kits for all 77 health centres were provided by Sisterhood Network and The Naga Rising. The items were donated by Gujarat based Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), a press release from the organisations on Sunday.

The home isolation kit was assembled in hand woven bags, locally designed and tailored by Sisterhood Network staff and includes pulse oximeter, digital thermometer, Glucometer, glucostrips, N 95 masks, face shield, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, the release stated.

According to the organisations, the main aim of providing the home isolation kit is to ensure timely monitoring of COVID-19 cases outside the hospital and quick response for treatment as per health parameters.

It was a matter of concern, as confirmed by official data that majority of COVID-19 patients in Nagaland were brought to the hospital in serious condition. This was due to lack of health tools available with the general public and therefore health condition could not be monitored, it stated.

With the availability of such home isolation kit, we hope that those with COVID-19 will benefit and get timely treatment, the joint press release stated.

Besides the home isolation kit, other relief materials provided included 600 PPE kit and disposable bed sheets for COVID Hospital Mokokchung and COVID Care Centre.

According to the press release, ADC Mokokchung Shashank Pratap Singh thanked the organisations in a letter and said that the COVID relief for Mokokchung district “couldn’t have come at a more opportune time”. “The camaraderie fostered through this partnership will go a long way in our collective fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” it said, quoting the ADC’s letter.

Similarly the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung, Dr R ChubalaAier in an acknowledgement letter expressed gratitude for reaching out to hospitals and health centres involved in combating the pandemic. “Your contribution to the needy which will go a long way in mitigating the sufferings of the people in the district during this time of crisis,” stated the letter.
